Lobby Southend Council Thursday 16th December

Southend Unison has called an anti-cuts lobby of the meeting of Southend-on-Sea Borough Council on Thursday 16th December.
Meet at 6pm on the steps of the Civic Centre then leaflet councillors on their way into the council meeting at 6:30pm. (There is no need to stay on for the meeting).

The lobby will be to call on councillors to fight the ConDem cuts instead of just implementing them. Unison will be pointing out the real cost of the cuts in services and jobs as well as the impact on the local economy.

Although the direct impact of the cuts in grants to local government at Southend is not yet known, Unison believes that the overall total of £28 million over four years is still likely to be the council’s target, which will have devastating results.
