*** Monday 7th October – Southend Against The Cuts Organising Meeting ***

5:30pm at the Railway Hotel, Clifftown Road, Southend. Join us for a short organising meeting t discuss how to take our campaign against austerity forward. All welcome!

*** Thursday 17th October – Lobby Southend council against the cuts ***

Southend will be holding a full council meeting on 17th October. There will be debates on petitions from the campaigns to save Southend’s branch libraries and to stop the closure of Priory House and Delaware House residential homes for the elderly.

Activists from both campaigns and from Unison have called a lobby of the council meeting. We will meet at 5:30pm outside Southend Victoria rail station and march to the Civic Centre. We will then lobby councillors on their way into the meeting, asking them to reject proposals to close three out of six branch libraries and the two residential homes. We want them to stand up for these vital public services instead of giving in to government cutbacks.

Please join this important protest!
